Evaluation of three model estimations of solar radiation at 24 UK stations

چکیده
Meteorological station records often consist only of precipitation and air temperature data. There is therefore a need for appropriate methods to estimate solar radiation data to enable complete data set creation, by combining observed and estimated data. It is important to know the quality and characteristics of the estimates made in order to understand what impacts the data may have on the use to which they are put. This paper describes a detailed evaluation of the performance and characteristic behaviour of two air temperature based models and one sunshine duration conversion method of estimating solar radiation, for 24 meteorological stations in Britain. Comparisons were made using a fuzzy-logic based multiple-indices assessment system (Irad) and tests of the temporal distribution of mean errors over a year. The conversion from sunshine duration to solar radiation produces the best overall estimates, but shows systematic seasonal errors. The two air temperature based methods can be reliable alternatives when only air temperature data are available. Fundamentally, the study demonstrates the value and importance of using a range of assessment methods to evaluate model estimates. # 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Solar Radiation Estimation from Rainfall and Temperature Data in Arid and Semi-arid Climates of Iran
Precipitation and air temperature data, only, are often recorded at meteorological stations, with radiation beingmeasured at very few weather stations, especially in developing countries. Therefore there arises a need for suitablemodels to estimate solar radiation for a completion of data sets. This paper is about an evaluation of eight models foran estimation of daily solar radiation (Q) from ...

One of the most fundamental processes, which influence climate and weather, both global and local scales that a fact which gives it the status of agriculture, is Evapotranspiration (ET). In irrigation and water resources management, ecosystem modelers, environmental assessment and solar energy system, accurate assessment of evapotranspiration is essential. Potential evapotranspiration (ET) h...

The aim of this study was to provide a reliable estimate of the amount of solar radiation in Kermanshah province by using “Liu and Jordan” model in order to develop solar sites. The amount of atmospheric elimination in each month was calculated using an index called clearness index () and the results were applied on different slopes, aspects and heights. Then, according to the obtained results,...
